What is IBC Container?

IBC is the abbreviation of Intermediate Bulk Container. The design of IBC is mainly used for bulk storage of liquid, semi-solid, or powder and other media to facilitate one-time transportation of plastic containers. When transporting IBC according to the standard, the static IBC can be stacked 4 stories high for transportation. It belongs to a reusable industrial container. The use of IBC can save 35% of storage space, and its repeatable performance also helps group owners save costs. When transporting containers, we usually use forklifts to improve the efficiency of handling. There are many different sizes and specifications on the market, including 820L, 1000L, 1250L, etc. The size details are stated as below:

The shape of the IBC container includes a container and a metal frame. The container is mainly made of colorless, odorless, and non-toxic high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Containers made of HDPE have high strength, good toughness, high-temperature resistance, environmental corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance, and good hygiene. Therefore, the IBC container can have good chemical stability and is insoluble in any organic solvents. The metal frame outside the container is also made of good steel, which improves stability and reliability.

Common Uses of IBC Container

IBC containers are mostly used to store or transport these items, such as paint raw materials, petroleum, pharmaceutical products, food additives, chemical raw materials, wastewater, powdered food, wine, sand, industrial raw materials, etc.

Advantages of IBC Container

IBC containers usually appear in industrial fields, such as the textile industry, construction industry, and so on. Let us introduce a few advantages of the IBC container.

First of all, the IBC container is a very cost-effective and lightweight container, which can help people to safely and effectively transport the medium from one place to another destination. Although its size may seem large, its mass is relatively light, so it is easier to carry. The IBC container is made of high-density polyethylene material, which is highly corrosive and durable, so we can store all kinds of medium, including corrosive industrial raw materials. Besides, the bottom of the IBC container has a valve for draining the liquid, which can easily drain the medium in the container. In terms of cleaning, the container can be easily cleaned only by using ordinary cleaning methods, so the IBC container can be reused. Thereby reducing the cost of purchasing new containers and achieving the effect of environmental protection.

Types of IBC Container

The most common intermediate bulk containers in the market include rigid intermediate bulk containers and flexible bulk intermediate bulk containers.

Rigid IBC tanks

A rigid IBC container is a kind of multi-functional container, it can be reused by people, and can also be stacked. The difference between it and a flexible IBC container is that it is a non-foldable container. The bottom of it has mounting parts for the pallet base, so we can conveniently use forklifts and other handling tools to carry out the handling work. Rigid IBC containers are usually made of stainless steel or plastic. Rigid IBC containers are mainly used to store and transport granular solids such as sand and stone.

Flexible IBC tanks

A flexible IBC is a container that can be folded. It is mainly made of aluminum, wood, fiberboard, and foldable plastic. When there is nothing in the flexible intermediate bulk container, we can fold it into a small package from its side to the inside. Due to its collapsible nature, we can store the container conveniently and save a lot of space. This type of flexible IBC container can be used to store and transport solid or fluid items, such as fertilizers and fine sand particles.

When we use IBC containers, we must pay attention to the following:

1) Before putting the medium in the container, you must check whether the valve at the bottom of the container is locked to prevent the medium from leaking out.

2) When filling, it should be arranged as soon as possible in the morning or evening (in the case of low temperature), and try to avoid filling at noon (in the case of high temperature). If the surface of the container is found to be hot before installation, we can sprinkle water around the container to cool down.

3) When filling, we can prepare a heat-insulating and fire-proof asbestos cloth to prevent the leakage of the gas generated by the volatilization of the filling.

4) The filling process should be slow, not too fast.

Using IBC Container can greatly reduce production, storage, transportation, and costs. At the same time, it also saves a lot of manpower and material resources.
