The Functions of Flexible Hose

Flexible hose is an important element used to connect two pipelines so that oil and natural gas can be transported through flexible hoses. Flexible hoses can be used to transport various fluids and fluidized solids. Most industrial flexible hoses are made of metal. Metal hoses are mainly used in cables, wires, and toilet shower hoses. The structure of the metal hose is composed of three parts: corrugated pipe, net sleeve, and joint. Stainless steel is mainly used to manufacture flexible hoses because stainless steel can make the flexible hose more resistant to high or low temperatures and corrosion. On top of that, the flexible hose also has strong shock resistance and high flexibility, which gives the hose a higher pressure-bearing capacity. This type of flexible hose has threads at both ends to facilitate connection and use. Flexible hose is widely used in various fields such as aviation, construction, petroleum, transportation, and food industries. The radius of the flexible hose is small, so there are flexible hoses between pitches.

Types of Flexible Hose

Corrugated metal hose

Corrugated metal hoses are mainly flexible pipes composed of long corrugated pipes, mesh sleeves, and joints. The corrugated pipe is the body of the metal hose and has the function of flexibility. The net sleeve has the function of strengthening and protecting. The joint is used to connect the pipe. In order to connect them, we will connect them by welding and mechanical fixing.

The inner wall of the corrugated metal hose has stainless steel spiral corrugations. And its outer layer has a net sleeve, which is woven from stainless steel. The woven outer layer can resist longitudinal pressure stress and protect the corrugations from abrasion and scratches. We can choose the number of braided layers and the diameter of the pipe according to the requirements of the application.

The joint of the corrugated metal hose is the part that connects the mesh sleeve and the corrugated pipe to ensure that the medium can flow normally in the pipeline. The material is also mainly stainless steel. Connectors are usually divided into three types: threaded, flanged, and fast. Threaded joints are mostly used on pipes with a radius of less than 50mm. The inner and outer taper surfaces of the two joints are tightly connected by tightening the threads. Threaded joints can withstand higher working pressures. This type of structure has good airtightness. The second type is a flanged joint, which is mainly a loose flange that slides along the axial direction and connects them under the action of the tension of the fastening bolt. The other is a quick coupling, which can be used on pipes with larger diameters and can be installed and removed quickly. This type of connector is usually used on the battlefield or in some environments that require quick loading and unloading.

Corrugated metal hoses are mostly used in various fields such as the petrochemical industry, medical industry, mining industry, machinery shipbuilding industry, aerospace, and so on.

Plastic coated hose

The inner layer of the plastic-coated metal hose is mainly made of stainless steel or galvanized, while its outer layer is made of PVC. The outer layer of PVC has anti-aging and anti-ultraviolet functions. In addition, fire retardant is added to PVC. Suitable for temperature between -40℃~+160℃. The advantages of plastic-coated metal hose are good bending performance, waterproof, anti-corrosion, insulation, and other functions. The plastic-coated metal hose is not easy to be broken, because its internal structure has tensile properties. This kind of hose is suitable for cables, and wires. Usually used in transportation systems, automated machinery, precision instruments, etc.

Metal Conduit

Metal Conduit is also made of stainless steel, which is mainly used for cables, wires, and precision sensor circuits. Its pipe diameter is small, between 3mm and 150mm. Metal conduit has excellent corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, flexibility, and high-temperature resistance.

Interlocking Hose

The interlocking hose is composed of connecting pieces with gaps between them to withstand axial movement. Interlocking hoses are suitable for transporting water, steam, and low-pressure air.
