Angle bar is one of the common products to be used in the construction field. Although the type and selection of the angle bar are not too complicated, we will need to understand some factors that guide us to choose the right material and size of the angle bar. As we know that when we are looking for steel angles, it is usually referred to as ‘’angle iron’’ or ‘’L Profile’’. Angle bar can be made of multiple types of material such as stainless steel, galvanized steel, or aluminum. The angle bar is either available in equal leg length or unequal leg length. The two legs of an equal angle are designed in the same size and length, whereas an unequal angle has different sizes and lengths of the two legs.
The stainless steel angle is the most commonly used type in the industry due to its advantage of the corrosion-resistant characteristic. It is available in different grades such as stainless steel 304 and 316. Equal stainless steel angle can have the size ranging from 10mm x 10mm x 2mm (thickness) to a maximum around 200mm x 200mm x 20mm (thickness) with a standard length of a total of 6 meters. Unequal stainless steel angle is ranging from 20mm x 10mm x 3mm (thickness) to the biggest 200mm x 150mm x 15mm. However, we normally use a smaller angle in our application. There are many ways to produce a stainless steel angle in Malaysia. The most common production method is Hot rolling which is the most cost-efficient method. Another production method is Cold rolling which can achieve a smooth and bright surface, normally to be used in aesthetic applications such as furniture. Using a laser to weld stainless steel angle will be a better choice if the required quantity is less, this method simply welds the two stainless steel flat bar together to create an L-shape angle bar. it will result in a sharp edge and has tight tolerances. Of course, we can customize the angles into the size we want to meet our project requirements. Laser welding is one of the production methods that can provide high flexibility and the possibility to customize the L-shape angles. In this method, the welder can use the high-quality hot-rolled sheets to freely combine different thicknesses of the web and flange into the desired angles.

Application of Angle Bar
Angle bar is a necessary element for building engineering projects such as building power towers, communication towers, trusses for roofing, or other steel structure buildings. It is most commonly used for supporting the columns, beams, and other platforms as it can provide additional strength, stability and protect the structure against corrosion caused by external weather effects. It also can be used to cover the corners and edges in order to allow the structure to last more longer, to keep them stay in their proper shapes, and avoid wearing or tearing easily caused by the weather or other external factors. Apart from the application in industrial and engineering, we also can find angle bars in our everyday life such as a coffee table, chair, waiting shed, as well as the shelving unit and prop frame of the shelves which used to load heavy objects. Angle bar is able to be applied on many different surfaces via the method of welding and drilling. In addition, the angle bar also can be used as a transportation tool to move heavy objects from one point to another destination whenever the trolley is not available. You will just need to flip the angle bar and make the open side of the angle bar facing the floor, by putting the object on the bar’s top point, then try to push it until it reaches the destination. This way of moving objects usually takes place where the welding and other mechanical activities happen.

Slotted Angle
Slotted Angle is the most versatile construction product which provides time and cost-effective solutions to our industry application. It is an efficient framing system to construct shelves, racks, benches, machine guards, handrails, or other forms of structure. The slotted angle is made of roll-formed steel and usually finished in a gray powder coating. Its length can be ranging from a minimum of 3 inches up to 40 feet, thickness from 0.005 inches to a maximum of 0.188. The manufacturing process of the slotted angle is using machine presses to create the angle and then punch holes on the metal sheet. As we can see that, the design of holes and elongated slots on the angle are perfectly positioned at the uniform interval for the purpose of bolting pieces together in multiple angles with nuts and bolts, without the need for drilling holes. It is easy to work with the slotted angle, we can even join short pieces of angle together to form a longer wanted length and able to dismantle, unbolted, and resemble again into a new pattern. Depending on the requirements, it can be cut to size by using the special angle cutters or shears and then be fixed with nuts and bolts.
